Welkom 40 had the great privilege of raiding a fellow 40 table when Jurgen Schoeman and Rudolf Helm went with the Area
Chairman to Harrismith on 22 August. It was a Friday night and we were all in high spirits when we hit the road. We met PG in
Senekal and drove with him to Harrismith. Even Pieter Cockeran made an appearance as an extra Bloem 158 visitor
We had to stop for an obligatory greeting at Pieter Paiva’s restaurant in Harrismith. Pieter is a Harrismith 41er and we were
welcomed with open arms.
Harrismith has moved clubhouses (again!) and their new venue is well suited to their needs. Anton de Vos (also a 41er) also
joined the meeting. As always, it is a lot of fun to visit the Harrismith and we were not disappointed.
We were joined by Chris and Louis from Ficksburg as well and were invited to breakfast and beer at Andre Beket’s house on
Saturday morning. We are not going to lie, but it was quite difficult to leave Harrismith with such incredible hospitality being
shown to us! When Beket mentioned a “staan rib”, most of us had our doubts.
