On 24 September 2022, The Sparta Butchery had a birthday bash in Welkom. Crown National came through as a
spice sponsor and boerewors rolls were made to sell on the day.
At the end of the day, some boerewors rolls remained unsold, and instead of throwing them away,
Helette Zietsman from Sparta approached our Chairman to find a place to distribute it. Ever keen
Stephan managed to get a hold of the new Tabler, Cornel Labuschagne and picked up the extra boerie
rolls from Sparta.
Welkom 40 managed to give 50 boerewors rolls to Mrafong Children’s home in Welkom. We are
sure that it has made the Saturday for children who very rarely have the opportunity and privilege
such as this.
Welkom 40 would like to congratulate Merafong Children’s Home for their support to orphans in the
Goldfields and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. We would also like to thank
Stephan Theunissen and Cornel Labuschagne for sacrificing their time on the day.
