Welkom 40 prioritized our travel to the Free State Tablers in 2022. We took a leaf out of Bloem 158’s book and assigned
Tablers to lead the raids to specific Tables by means of a draw. It proved to be a solid idea and Welkom 40 raided way better
than in previous years. We decided to make up for lost time during the Covid pandemic and managed to raid all the Tables in
the Free State, as well as a cross-border raid.
On the 13 th of October Jurgen, Robby and Stephan got into Robby’s car and faced the pothole-infested road to Bethlehem.
We were very lucky that it coincided with PG Grove’s (Area Chair) chairman’s visit to Bethlehem. The Bethlehem guys once
again went out of their way to make us feel welcome – even during load shedding.
It is always nice to learn from other Tables and we had the privilege to have Alwyn Shields explain their two major projects.
They are the Ziender Ogen and the Machechaba Creche.
The work that Bethlehem 60 has put in over the years is admirable and we wish them much success for the coming year.
It was a great evening of fellowship and the Welkom Tablers arrived safely in Welkom just after 12am.
One special mention is that Gwyn Grobler’s camping lights were not very favorable to Jurgen Schoeman’s bleskop.
